What is person-centred counselling?
How does it work?
Why should I start counselling?
Sessions take place remotely, via video or phone call. This process is very effective especially right now with the swapping and changing of lockdowns and restrictions. Working online can benefit us all as it provides flexibility and freedom to receive sessions from the comfort of your own home.
I offer therapy to those that need to get things off their chest and want someone to listen to them. I am accepting of whatever it is that you would like to work through. I believe that we all are capable of bettering ourselves, but sometimes we need a springboard or someone to push us to improve. If you make the decision to begin therapy we will begin with a free 15/20minute introductory video/phone call. This call will allow us to get a feel for one another, I will explain a bit about how I work and you can share what has brought you to therapy.
When you feel your life seems to be going off the rails or feel stuck, lack confidence, talking to a counsellor or therapist can usher a release, renewed hope and a better perspective. No matter who you are and what you do, therapy is a way to improve yourself, enabling you to grow with confidence and a desire to live life with purpose and positivity.
My experience has led me to believe that therapy is crucial to help us realise our potential. Whether you are drifting, dealing with trauma or hurt, or feel isolated, through therapy, you gain a better understanding of where you are at and why. More importantly, you realise the gift of self-acceptance – to appreciate yourself and determine what you can change to create a meaningful life in line with your values and goals.
I am empathic, understanding, patient, and will create a comfortable space for you to talk freely without any judgement. What you see is what you get – there is no façade, just me. We all have a unique pace of understanding and realisation, and my sessions are pressure-free with no expectations placed on you. We enter the sessions together as a team, working towards what you want to achieve, taking those baby steps to get to where you want to be. I won’t impose anything, instead, you set the milestones you want to accomplish, and we will get there.
I offer counselling by phone or video calls at days and times that work for you, and there is no time frame for our sessions as I am aware that we all work at our own pace. While I tend to have weekly sessions, the frequency can be weekly, but you can choose for more or less frequent sessions, depending on your needs and concerns. Payment for these sessions will happen via bank transfer or paypal and will need to be paid 24hours before the session.
I offer reviews every five sessions to establish how you are finding therapy, if there is anything you would like to change, so on and so forth. Every session will begin with a check-in and end with a check-out, meaning we start off with a look at how you are feeling in the moment and what is standing out for you. As the session draws to a close we again look at how you are feeling and where you are at now compared to when you entered the session.
